OCDC, the U.S. Overseas Cooperative Development Council, is a group of nine cooperative development organizations working in the international cooperative development sector. The involvement of U.S. cooperative organizations in overseas activities grew out of the conviction that cooperative techniques, which have helped millions of Americans, could be adapted to help poor and low-income people in developing countries achieve a better way of life.
OCDC members are global leaders in cooperative development in Africa, Latin America and Asia and apply their expertise and approaches in a wide range of settings and countries. With multi-year projects in over 70 countries, OCDC members implement the largest portfolio of cooperative development programs in the world. OCDC members have been development partners with the U.S. government for more than 40 years, but receive funding from other sources as well. The ongoing focus of OCDC’s members is to help people in developing countries lift themselves from poverty through income development, food security and democracy building.
The Research Group of the US Overseas Cooperative Development Council (OCDC) carries out research on the effectiveness and other aspects of cooperative development and is currently embarking on a complete redesign of its website to enable better dissemination of its research projects and activities and those of OCDC members. Our goal is to design a website that is visually appealing, easy to navigate, and allows OCDC to update news and information quickly and professionally. Our website users will include: OCDC members, donors, and others interested in cooperative development and the CDP.
