Cooperative Development OrganizationsOur vision is to be the best and most trusted provider of health care, health promotion, health care financing and health care administration in the country. In 1997 Land O Lakes invited HealthPartners to enter a subcontract to implement community based prepaid health care schemes in Uganda, Africa.
NWCDC is a nonprofit organization devoted to assisting new and existing cooperative businesses, from daycare centers to credit unions. It's focus is cooperative education. NWCDC has access to a wide range of information on cooperative ownership and participatory management models throughout the country and the globe. It serves as a clearinghouse for cooperative practices. An organization of cooperative development centers and national partners that provide expertise for cooperative development.
The trade organization for cooperatives in Iowa. It provides educational programs on cooperatives, to promote the cooperative form of business and to provide assistance with legislative and regulatory matters and financial and management consulting and cooperative development services.
The Cooperative Housing Coalition began its formation in early 1999 to strengthen the ongoing government relations work being done in concert around legislative and regulatory housing issues of mutual interest to the National Association of Housing Cooperatives (NAHC), the National Cooperative Bank (NCB), its Development Corporation (NCBDC), and the National Cooperative Business Association (NCBA). It brings together the grass-roots membership base of NAHC and its member-associations (e.g. the Coordinating Council of Cooperatives of Greater New York, the Council of New York Cooperatives & Condominiums (CNYC), the Federation of New York Housing Cooperatives (FNYHC), the Southeast Association of Housing Cooperatives (SAHC), etc.), the diverse cooperative membership of NCBA, the in-house government relations efforts of those organizations, and NCB's financial and human resources to strengthen the cooperative community's previously-existing capacity to enhance the environment in which housing cooperatives exist and are created.
NASCO is an association of campus cooperatives in Canada and the U.S., providing student cooperatives with operational assistance, encouraging the development of new student cooperatives, and serving as an advocate for student cooperatives. NASCO teaches leadership skills, provides information, and serves as the central link facilitating the fruition of the Rochdale vision in the student sector. By strengthening the student co-op movement, we believe we can strengthen the future of cooperatives generally.
The mission of the Rural Business-Cooperative Service within the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is "to enhance the quality of life for rural Americans by providing leadership in building competitive businesses including sustainable cooperatives that can prosper in the global marketplace." We meet these goals by: (1) investing financial resources and providing technical assistance to businesses and cooperatives located in rural communities; and (2) establishing strategic alliances and partnerships that leverage public, private, and cooperative resources to create jobs and stimulate rural economic activity. Cooperative Coffees is a green coffee importing cooperative, comprised of 17 community based coffee roasters in the USA and Canada, committed to supporting equitable and sustainable trade to the benefit of farmers and their exporting cooperatives, families and communities.
